Finance in Common 2023: ALIDE and CSI organize webinar on social investment in LAC

  • The webinar focused on learning about the role played by the Public Development Banks in LAC in the region’s social investment and how they can influence the financial system.

April 20, 2023- On the way to the Finance in Common Summit 2023, the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE) and the Coalition for Social Investment organized the webinar:  “Social Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC),” where the financing role played by the Public Development Banks in social investment was explained.

Edgardo Alvarez, ALIDE Secretary General, stated that one of the main roles of the Development Banking system is to ensure that no one is left behind in the transition to a low-carbon economy.

Alvarez also announced that the Development Banking Hub will dedicate a section to the members of the Coalition, where they will find a repository of knowledge on the subject.

Furthermore, Cassa Depositi e Prestiti of Italy; FIRA of Mexico and BDMG of Brazil shared their experiences in climate financing, social and green bonds and ESG criteria.

This event preceded the Finance in Common Summit 2023, which is scheduled to be held from September 4 to 6, 2023 at the Convention Center in the city of Cartagena de Indias.
