ALIDE Secretary General Edgardo Alvarez moderated Business Session 3: “ALIDE: Support Mechanisms for Building Resilient Agrifood Systems in Latin America,” a space for dialogue and exchange that showcased financial and technical support mechanisms designed to foster sustainable and resilient agrifood systems across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The session featured distinguished international experts:

During the session, panelists discussed topics such as innovative financing models, financial inclusion, small-scale agriculture, sustainability, and climate change adaptation in agricultural activities. Each intervention contributed valuable experiences and best practices aimed at strengthening rural financial systems and mobilizing sustainable investments for the agricultural sector.

Through its participation, ALIDE reaffirmed its commitment to fostering knowledge exchange and international cooperation among development finance institutions. The Association continues to work actively to enhance the financial and technical capacities of development banks, with the goal of promoting rural well-being, food security, and the resilience of agrifood systems in Latin America and the Caribbean.

A Global Gathering to Advance Agricultural Development

The 8th World Congress on Rural and Agricultural Finance brought together leaders from the financial sector, policymakers, and development partners from around the world. Under the theme “Building Resilient Local Agrifood Systems: The Role of Robust Financing Mechanisms and Policy,” discussions focused on how strong financial frameworks and inclusive policies can accelerate the sustainable transformation of agrifood systems.

Organized by AFRACA and the Central Bank of Kenya, with the collaboration of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), APRACA, CICA, NENARACA, and ALIDE, the Congress also served as the venue for the launch of the “Special Report on Financing Agrifood Systems Transformation.” This report analyzes strategies, policies, and instruments to increase financial flows toward more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient agrifood systems, particularly in regions with the largest investment gaps.
