The ALIDE 2022 prizes are awarded in Curacao

May 20, 2022- The ALIDE 2022 prizes recognizing and promoting innovation and good practices among development financing institutions were awarded at the Fifty-second General Assembly of the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE), held in Curaçao with the support of the Curaçao Development Corporation (Korpodeko).
The prize in the Financial Products category went to two institutions, Banco do Nordeste (Brazil) for the “Student Finance Program – FNE P-FIES” initiative and Sociedad Hipotecaria Federal (Mexico) for the “Pari-Passu Guarantee Program (GPM).”
In the Technological Management and Modernization Category, two Argentinean institutions were the prizewinners: Banco de Inversión y Comercio Exterior (BICE), with its Environmental and Social Risk Management (ESRM) System and Banco de la Nación Argentina (BNA) for the “Innovation for financial inclusion: BNA+ Development and innovation application.”
Colombia, for its part, was the winner in the category of Information, Technical Assistance and Social Responsibility. Inficaldas and Infivalle received prizes for the projects : “INFICALDAS Reciprocity Policy” and “Local economic development strategy in the northern Cauca Valley,” respectively.
The ALIDE Extra-regional Banks prize was awarded to India’s EXIM Bank for its “Rising Stars (Ubharte Sitare)” Program, which focuses on helping units with an export potential to expand their operations and basket of export products and to enter new markets.
Prizes were also awarded in the special categories of Green ALIDE and Support for the Woman Entrepreneur. The prize in the former category went to the Banobras program “Digital Tools for Sustainable Infrastructure” and the latter honored the “Women 360 Program of BN Woman” of Banco Nacional de Costa Rica and the “Social Gender-denominated Bond Issuance (BSG)” initiative of Mexico’s Fideicomisos Instituidos en Relación con la Agricultura (FIRA) .
More than twenty innovative products, services and programs with a positive impact were presented during this award ceremony, which has been seeking since 2008 to identify and honor the best development bank practices and to recognize the work of the institutions in boosting their countries’ social and economic progress.
Outstanding member of ALIDE
After a two-year hiatus, ALIDE once again announced its Bank of the Year award granted from among the Association’s member institutions. On this occasion, the honor went to Brazil’s Banco de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais (BDMG).
Considered among the foremost features for honoring the institution were its performance in over 90% of the municipalities of Minas Gerais state, its digital loan disbursement platform, the institution’s financial soundness and its disbursements in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
ALIDE is the community of financial institutions that generates banking solutions for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean. Founded in 1968, its main objective is to contribute to the economic and social development of the region, through the good practices in development financing that it promotes among its associates, about 90 institutions with a presence in more than 20 Latin American countries and other regions of the world.
