June 1, 2023- During the 53^rd General Assembly of the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE), held in San Pedro Sula, Honduras with the support of Banco Hondureño para la Producción y la Vivienda (BANHPROVI), the ALIDE 2023 Awards took place, a contest that recognizes and promotes innovation and good practices among development finance institutions.

The award in the Financial Products category was given to Fideicomisos Instituidos en Relación con la Agricultura (FIRA) with the “Supplier Development Program (SDP).”

As for the Management and Technological Modernization category, the winners were two institutions: Banco Popular with the “BP Connection” tool, and Financiera de Desarrollo Territorial S.A. (FINDETER) with the “Vende Digital (Sell Digital)” program.

For its part, Colombia was the winner in the Information, Technical Assistance and Social Responsibility category. Infivalle received an award for the “Generation of Productive Alternatives for the Rural Population” program.

The ALIDE Extra-regional Banks award was given to two Spanish institutions: “Huruma Fund” of Compañía Española de Financiación del Desarrollo (COFIDES), and “ICO International Channel Line” presented by Instituto de Crédito Oficial (ICO).

Regarding the ALIDE Green category, the “Special Line of Credit – MEBA” project of Bancóldex, and “Green Award Program – BDE” of Banco de Desarrollo del Ecuador B.P. (BDE) received awards.

In the special category Support for Women Entrepreneurs, the winners were “Linha de financiamento Empreendedoras de Minas” of Banco de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais S.A. (BDMG) and “Empowered Business Loans (EBL)” of Development Finance Corporation of Belize.

During the call for entries for the Awards, more than 25 innovative products, services and programs that generate a positive impact on society were presented. Since 2008, the objective has been to recognize and highlight the best practices in the field of Development Banking, in addition to valuing the important role that institutions play in the economic and social progress of their respective countries.

Outstanding member of ALIDE

The Bank of the Year award was given to Banco de Nordeste de Brasil. Among the main factors to distinguish this institution, its presence in 1985 Brazilian municipalities, its commitment to gender equality and sustainable development, and its role during the COVID-19 crisis were considered.
