March 28, 2023- The Webinar: “Launching of the “Digital Maturity Index” self-assessment platform.” A tool for development banking digital transformation was held in the framework of the technical cooperation between the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

This platform is a tool developed by Digital Bank, with IDB support, to provide an assessment of the level of digital transformation of financial institutions, with a view to closing gaps in financial inclusion that exist in Latin America and the Caribbean.

It also seeks to provide information about digital transformation and experiences in good digitalization practices and innovation initiatives recommended to development banks that undertake the self-assessment of their digital maturity.

ALIDE Secretary General, Edgardo Alvarez, emphasized the importance of furthering the work started by the public development banks to improve their digital transformation processes in order to simplify and streamline their customer service, thereby contributing to greater financial inclusion.

The Systems Manager of Banco de Inversión y Comercio Exterior (BICE), Hugo Codega, for his part, shared his institution’s experience with the digital transformation process and the main problems it came across along the way.

Also participating in the webinar were the acting Head of the Connectivity, Markets and Finance Division of the IDB, Daniel Fonseca; the IDB Senior Financial Markets specialist, María Carmen Fernández; the Executive Director of the Latam Digital Bank, Ramón Heredia; and the Digital Transformation Manager of Digital Bank, María Inés Fernández.

Before the seminar came to a close, all of the ALIDE member banks were invited to join this platform to get a better assessment of their state of digital maturity and receive specialized coaching to advance their transformation.
