Cassa de Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) joins ALIDE as an associate member
- Cassa de Depositi e Prestiti promotes Italy’s sustainable development by using savings in a responsible manner to advance growth and employment and supporting enterprise, infrastructure and territorial innovation and competitiveness.
May 15, 2024- Cassa de Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) joined the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE) as a new associate member. CDP collaborates with national, European and international institutions like associations, financial institutions and non-governmental organizations to maximize the impact of the bank’s development cooperation activities.
The alliance between ALIDE and CDP seeks to strengthen its relations with the Latin American and Caribbean development banking system, with a view to raising funds for investment and business purposes, reinforcing links and creating opportunities for development in line with CDP’s development cooperation goals.
CDP fulfills its function as an Italian financial development cooperation institution by playing a role that enables it to finance high impact economic, environmental and social initiatives in strategic sectors and to promote specialized programs for climate change, financial inclusion and women’s undertakings in developing countries and emerging markets. The Cassa de Depositi e Prestiti has been at the service of the Italian people since 1850 by assuming the responsibility for financing public administration infrastructure projects and investments. It also provides support for the real estate improvement policies of local authorities for urban regeneration purposes, and invests in social infrastructure, sustainable mobility and new forms of housing.
It has served as Italy’s national development institution since 2015 and offers financial advisory services to public administration organizations regarding the use of national and European funds and by raising financial resources from other public and private institutions.
“It is our hope that, through CDP, we will be able to mobilize Italian cooperation investments and resources for the implementation of joint projects with Latin America and the Caribbean and the transfer of technology, as well as to draw on its vast experience in supporting development and the internationalization of small and medium enterprises, an area in which Italy serves as an example to the world,” ALIDE Secretary General, Edgardo Alvarez, remarked.
