• Case of good corporate management practices presented at ALIDE Latin American seminar.

October 20, 2020.- The pandemic unleashed by COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the global banking and financial sector. Banco Nacional de Costa Rica has maintained its strong standing amid the upheaval and highlights its risk management capacity with important contributions.

For that reason, the Costa Rican bank, in collaboration with ALIDE, shared its experience at the seminar “Corporate Risks Management in the context of the crisis: Good Practices of Banco Nacional de Costa Rica”, held from September 30 to October 2.

A team headed by the Deputy General Manager for Risk and Credit, Allan Calderón, explained the bank’s experience to Latin American banking leaders. Other topics of interest like sustainable credit products, digital transformation and cybersecurity, emerging risks and data analysis were discussed at the seminar, in addition to risk issues.

“Generally speaking, thanks to its successful risk management, the institution was able to reinforce its service, the reaction to the current pandemic emergency, and its competitive standing in the market, together with its strategy or continuity plan,” Calderón commented.

The Deputy Manager went on to add that “this management capacity has turned our institution into a point of reference both in the country and in the Latin American region and that is why we are sharing this knowledge at the ALIDE seminar, in order to develop strong synergies for producing change.”

This seminar is part of ALIDE’s Technical Assistance Program, designed for the on-site presentation, to the region’s development banks, of the experiences of leading institutions.
