ALIDE and AFD renew their alliance to promote sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean
- Both institutions signed a new Memorandum of Understanding that will strengthen training, research and international cooperation.
20 de diciembre 2024- The Latin American Association of Development Finance Institutions (ALIDE) and the French Development Agency (AFD) have reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). The main objective of this agreement is to promote inclusive, supportive and environmentally sustainable economic and social development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The renewal of this strategic alliance will enable both institutions to expand their impact through the joint mobilization of human and financial resources in key initiatives. These include the organization of transformational trainings and the development and dissemination of global research that responds to current development challenges.
In addition, the new agreement seeks to strengthen the action of the network of ALIDE member banks in the region, promoting their participation in high-level international forums, such as the Finance in Common Summit (FiCS), the International Development Finance Club (IDFC) and the World Federation of Development Financing Institutions (WFDFI).
The MOU was signed at ALIDE headquarters in Lima by Philippe Orliange, AFD’s executive director of Geographies, and Edgardo Alvarez, secretary general of ALIDE. This renewal extends for three more years a cooperative relationship that began in 2017 and has proven to be fundamental for the advancement of high-impact projects.
