• ALIDE’s Secretary General participated in the meeting of the World Federation of Development Financing Institutions (WFDFI), which brought together representatives of regional associations and international partners to review the Federation’s activities and discuss its next steps.

October 28, 2026- The Secretary General of the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE), Edgardo Alvarez, participated in the 2026 Board of Governors Meeting of the World Federation of Development Financing Institutions (WFDFI), held on October 18 in Bangkok, Thailand, on the sidelines of the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings.

The ALIDE representative, who also serves as Secretary General of WFDFI, delivered the opening remarks. The agenda included discussions on FiCS 2.0 and the proposal for WFDFI to participate as a Development Partner of Finance in Common (FiCS), as well as a review of the General Secretariat’s 2026–2027 report, covering the Federation’s programs and activities, membership, and financial position.

Participants included Hussain Al Lawati, First Vice President of ADFIAP and CEO of the Development Bank of Oman; Enrique Florencio, Secretary General of ADFIAP; Ilhami Öztürk, Secretary General of ADFIMI; Rémy Rioux, Chair of FiCS; and Laura Sabogal Reyes, Head of Climate and Development Finance for FiCS and IDFC at the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).

The meeting also provided an opportunity to review WFDFI’s main activities and discuss its next steps for 2027, reaffirming the Federation’s role as a platform for cooperation and exchange among its member regional associations.
