ALIDE and AFD promote research and data generation in regional development banking
March 31, 2026- The Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) formalized a strategic agreement aimed at strengthening research and the generation of specialized data in development banking in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
This initiative is part of the Research & Data component of the 2025–2027 Cooperation Agreement between both institutions, designed to enhance the production of knowledge on topics of interest to financial institutions in the region.
Key areas of cooperation:
- Strengthening knowledge: development of databases on development banking to provide accurate metrics on performance and impact.
- Applied research: development of studies in areas of common interest to support the adoption of international best practices.
- Evidence for development: fostering a deeper understanding of how development banking can help close social and economic gaps.
The agreement was signed at ALIDE headquarters in Lima by Edgardo Alvarez, Secretary General of ALIDE, and Xavier Mesnard, AFD Country Director in Peru. With this signing, both institutions reaffirm their commitment to promoting development banking as a technical, transparent, and essential actor for the future of the region.
