- The Association took part in the international meeting “Andean Dialogue for Action”, organized in Lima by IICA and the Andean Community, within the framework of the launch of the Andean Observatory of Public Policies for Agrifood Systems (OPSAa Andino).
21 August, 2025- The Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE) actively participated in the international meeting «Andean Dialogue for Action: Policies to Promote Productivity for the Sustainability of Agrifood Systems», held on August 18–19 in Lima.
The event, organized by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) and the General Secretariat of the Andean Community (SG-CAN), brought together representatives from ministries, development banks, international organizations, and producer associations from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. Its objective was to advance a regional agenda for sustainable agrifood productivity.
Representing ALIDE, Romy Calderón, Head of the Economic Studies and Information Program, participated as a panelist and emphasized the role of development banks in building more sustainable and inclusive agrifood systems. He explained that “development banks ultimately aim to generate social and economic impact while remaining financially sustainable,” underscoring that their mission goes beyond financing to include the provision of information for producers’ decision-making and technical assistance that strengthens their capacities.
The meeting took place within the framework of the launch of the Andean Observatory of Public Policies for Agrifood Systems (OPSAa Andino), an initiative promoted by IICA and the Andean Community. This key instrument seeks to consolidate the exchange of experiences and support the design of more effective and evidence-based public policies.
The event’s agenda included the inauguration of the OPSAa Andino Situation Room, panels on sustainable productivity, green and climate financing, as well as collaborative workshops to design an Andean roadmap aimed at transforming agrifood systems.
Through its participation, ALIDE reaffirms its commitment to work alongside countries in the region and international organizations to strengthen innovative financial solutions, contributing to the design of public policies that integrate environmental sustainability, social inclusion, and climate resilience into the agrifood systems of Latin America and the Caribbean.
