Ecuador’s Superintendence of Popular and Solidarity Economy (SEPS) joins ALIDE as a new collaborating member
- The supervisory body fosters sustainability, transparency, and financial inclusion within the popular and solidarity-based sector, with a direct impact on citizens’ social well-being.
June 13, 2025- The Superintendence of Popular and Solidarity Economy (SEPS) of Ecuador has joined the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE) as a collaborating member. This move reinforces ALIDE’s vision of integrating strategic actors from the financial landscape of Latin America and the Caribbean, with a focus on inclusion, sustainability, and institutional strengthening.
SEPS is the technical body responsible for overseeing, regulating, and supervising the entities and organizations that comprise Ecuador’s popular and solidarity economy—a sector that represents a key component of the country’s financial system. Its work helps to ensure the transparency, stability, and sustainability of these organizations, while promoting social well-being and protecting the rights of their members.
Through this new alliance, ALIDE gains the experience of an institution that actively promotes financial inclusion via cooperative, associative, and community-based models, and that works to strengthen supervisory and governance capacities in underbanked sectors. This partnership will also foster the exchange of knowledge and experiences for the design of regulatory tools tailored to the region’s specific needs.
