ALIDE inaugurated congress on digital transformation in banking

    December 01, 2021- The Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE) inaugurated the Congress Digital Transformation in Banking: How to generate greater value for customers?

    This meeting is aimed at directors of financial institutions interested in learning more about digital transformation strategies and processes aimed at generating greater value for their projects and improving customer service.

    “Digital transformation is a change in business models driven by new technologies. But to be protagonists of the new businesses, a cultural change is necessary ”, indicated the executive director of Digital Bank, Ramón Heredia.

    During his presentation, Heredia stressed the importance of using information to connect with clients and understand them in order to offer a better financial service.

    In addition, he shared the initiatives that are gaining importance in digitization such as buy now, pay later, alliances between fintech and banks, the use of bitcoin as the official currency and payment with data, the oil of the 21st century.

    The first session also featured a presentation by Mariana Franza, director of operations of the Argentine fintech Ualá, who agreed on the importance of listening to and learning from clients.

    Franza considered that it is necessary to do a constructive destruction in traditional industries, such as banking, in order to think from the user’s point of view.

    It should be noted that José Manuel Aguirre, commercial director of Grupo AIS, also participated in the discussion, who acted as facilitator of the consultation session.

    The congress, organized by ALIDE, will take place over three days and in the next sessions will include the participation of speakers from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Banco Provincia, Banco do Nordeste do Brasil (BNB) and Centro de Finanzas Alternativas de Cambridge.
