Today, AIIB brings together 111 members and finances projects across Asia and other regions, in sectors including energy, transport, water, sustainable cities, digital connectivity, and social infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;AIIB&#8217;s membership in ALIDE reflects our shared commitment to strengthening cooperation between Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean. Beyond welcoming a distinguished multilateral development bank, this milestone reinforces ALIDE&#8217;s role as the leading regional platform for development finance institutions and expands opportunities for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and strategic partnerships across regions. We are confident that this relationship will generate tangible benefits for our members while contributing to sustainable development and greater connectivity between Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean,&#8221;<\/em> said <strong>Edgardo Alvarez<\/strong>, Secretary General of ALIDE.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gregory Liu<\/strong>, Director General, Financial Institutions and Funds Clients Department, Global, AIIB, stated that<em> &#8220;AIIB is honored to join ALIDE and its distinguished community of development finance institutions in Latin America and the Caribbean. During the event, both parties met bilaterally to explore opportunities for cooperation in support of AIIB&#8217;s objectives in Latin America and the Caribbean.<\/p>\n<p>Later, a delegation led by <strong>Jin Liqun, who was AIIB President at the time<\/strong>, paid an institutional visit to ALIDE&#8217;s General Secretariat in Lima in July 2025. During the visit, the delegation met with <strong>Edgardo Alvarez, Secretary General of ALIDE<\/strong>, to exchange experiences and identify areas of common interest. Following these discussions, ALIDE formally invited AIIB to join the Association as an Adherent Member. Subsequently, during the 56th ALIDE General Assembly, AIIB representatives presented the Bank&#8217;s strategy for the region and shared their experience in sustainable infrastructure, connectivity, digital transformation, and the mobilization of private capital to finance development projects.[\/vc_column_text][vc_video link=&#8221;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=WFkrtvb_SGI&#8221; align=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text 0=&#8221;&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1786385032564{margin-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: -25px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #013c7b;\"><strong>AIIB&#8217;s Work in the Region<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Among AIIB&#8217;s initiatives in the region is the <strong>BDMG Renewables and Asia Connectivity Facility<\/strong>, developed in partnership with Banco de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais (BDMG) of Brazil to support renewable energy projects and strengthen connectivity with Asia.<\/p>\n<p>Another notable initiative is the <strong>CONAFIPS COVID-19 Credit Line Project<\/strong>, implemented in collaboration with Ecuador&#8217;s Corporaci\u00f3n Nacional de Finanzas Populares y Solidarias (CONAFIPS) to expand access to credit for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>With AIIB joining ALIDE, the Association not only expands its international network but also strengthens its role as a bridge between development finance institutions across regions. This new membership opens additional opportunities for cooperation, knowledge sharing, and joint initiatives that contribute to sustainable and inclusive development in Latin America, the Caribbean,
