Edgardo Alvarez, emphasized that the Association promotes a practical agenda aligned with the five priorities established in Seville and proposed key actions to accelerate access to sustainable financing in the region.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #009de5;\"><strong>October 3, 2025- <\/strong><\/span>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alide.org.pe\/\"><strong>Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE)<\/strong><\/a> took part in the session <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1sgoB1DYv7_bCSgejc3WZkBji0KdumdOX\/view\"><em>\u201cAccelerating Access to Multilateral and Private Financing for Ecosystem Restoration and Climate Action in Latin America and the Caribbean,\u201d<\/em><\/a> held within the framework of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/es\/events\/evento-de-onu-medio-ambiente\/xxiv-reunion-del-foro-de-ministras-y-ministros-de-medio\"><strong>XXIV Meeting of the Forum of Ministers of the Environment of Latin America and the Caribbean<\/strong><\/a>, in Lima.<\/p>\n<p>During his remarks, <strong>Edgardo Alvarez<\/strong>, ALIDE Secretary General, highlighted the strategic role of development banks in mobilizing financial and technical resources to address the region\u2019s environmental and climate challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDevelopment banks in Latin America and the Caribbean not only mobilize financial resources but also act as catalysts for investment, as bridges between public and private actors, and as generators of knowledge that turn projects into sustainable realities,\u201d said !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #013c7b;\"><strong>Sustainable Financing for Climate Action<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Considering the growing financing gap, the Secretary General explained that ALIDE is advancing a <strong>practical work agenda<\/strong> aligned with five guiding concepts introduced in Seville: <em>Rethink, Strengthen, Integrate, Invest, and Develop.<\/em> In this regard, the Association proposes three key actions to strengthen green finance in Latin America and the Caribbean:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Regional structuring platforms:<\/strong> creation of technical hubs to support the preparation of <strong>Nature-based Solutions (NbS)<\/strong> projects and their accreditation before multilateral funds.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Development of financial and risk mitigation mechanisms:<\/strong> promotion of guarantees, insurance schemes, long-term credit, grants, and <strong>blended finance<\/strong> structures that encourage private sector participation in restoration and adaptation initiatives.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Linkages with financing sources and international cooperation:<\/strong> strengthening knowledge exchange among development finance institutions and coordination with bilateral and multilateral sources to mobilize both reimbursable and non-reimbursable resources.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Alvarez underscored that <strong>development banks act as a bridge between local needs and global climate finance flows<\/strong>, playing a vital role in building Subprogramme on Finance and Economic Transformations of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/es\"><strong>United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)<\/strong><\/a>, and featured opening remarks by <strong>Jyotsna Puri<\/strong>, Director of UNEP\u2019s Policy and Programme Division.<\/p>\n<p>During the panel discussion <em>\u201cFacilitating Access to Multilateral and Development Financing for Ecosystem Restoration and Climate Action,\u201d<\/em> ALIDE\u2019s Secretary General shared the stage with <strong>Camila Zepeda Lizama<\/strong>, Head of the International Affairs Coordination Unit
