” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left|color:%23013c7b” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]December 2017.-<\/strong> Public policy plays a crucial role in setting out the development of Latin American and Caribbean countries, ensuring conditions for people to live well and exploit their potential. In this scenario, the states and in particular their development banks \u2014organizations that are especially adequate for accompanying these processes\u2014 must orient public policy, taking advantage of the particulars of the current context.<\/p>\n

Starting from this need, the Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE) chose the theme for its 48th General Assembly: \u201cDevelopment Banking: Challenges of the Present and Future\u201d, deepening the analysis of three key areas: artificial intelligence and technological innovation; the strengthening of resilience in cities and rural areas in the face of natural disasters; and the financial inclusion and integration of people, sectors, projects, new products and territories.<\/p>\n

How are these facts and trends changing the world? How to convert artificial intelligence and resilience into opportunities for development? What experiences on the international level can Latin American Development Banking adopt in order to contribute to financial inclusion? These are some of the questions that will guide the discussions.<\/p>\n

50 years of ALIDE<\/strong>
\nIt is worth mentioning that this General Assembly will be the scenario for the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of ALIDE and have special panelists and activities aimed at highlighting the legacy and projection of Development Banking in Latin America and the Caribbean. The event will take place in the city of Lima, Peru, in May 2018.<\/p>\n
