organized jointly with CAF, COFIDE made a presentation describing its new role and strategy of institutional strengthening designed to make it a more efficient development bank <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #009de5;\"><strong>July 19, 2024- <\/strong><\/span>In the course of the event, entitled \u201cModern development banking and its sustainable impact in Peru&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cofide.com.pe\/\">COFIDE<\/a>, Peru\u2019s Development Bank, announced that it had entered into a strategic alliance with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caf.com\/\">CAF \u2013 Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean<\/a>.\u00a0 It went on to describe the new strategic approach it has adopted, which seeks to address existing and future economic, social and environmental challenges.<\/p>\n<p>As specified in \u00a0the agenda of the meeting, ALIDE Secretary General, Edgardo Alvarez, served as moderator of the panel \u201cNew development banking practices and trends,\u201d with the participation of Claudia Flores, Manager of the CAF Management Portfolio; Matilde Bord\u00f3n, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ifc.org\/en\/home\">IFC<\/a> Andean Regional Manager; \u00a0Carla Zacapa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.undp.org\/es\">UND<\/a>P Deputy Resident Regional Manager for Peru and Eduardo Escobal, COFIDE Business Manager.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on this panel, Alvarez pointed up the importance of the cooperation existing among the development banks and shared with COFIDE the document entitled \u00abNote for strategic action by the development banking system,\u201d a technical note prepared by ALIDE \u00a0containing strategic ideas for the sector, which define the action needed and trends in the finances and management of institutions of this kind.\u00a0 The speakers, for their part, were in agreement on the importance of joint efforts between the\u00a0\u00a0 public and private sectors to meet the needs of the region\u2019s countries and bring about their sustainable economic and social development.[\/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=&#8221;29045,29043&#8243; between CAF and COFIDE<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The two institutions announced that the Board of Directors of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caf.com\/es\/actualidad\/noticias\/2024\/07\/caf-realizara-inversion-patrimonial-en-cofide-por-hasta-usd-10-millones-para-impulsar-el-desarrollo-sostenible-del-peru\/\">CAF had approved a new cooperation agreement for an equity investment of up to 10 million U.S. dollars to benefit COFIDE<\/a>. \u00a0The purpose of this financing is to boost Peru\u2019s sustainable development and contribute to the Peruvian development bank\u2019s evolution over the next few years.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abThis alliance between COFIDE and CAF will enable us to not only provide COFIDE with more knowledge and capacity, but will also give us a greater capacity to finance sectors that are essential to Peru\u2019s development,\u201d stressed Sergio Diaz-Granados, CAF Executive President.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of COFIDE\u2019s Board of Directors, Jorge Velarde, for his part, reported that the capital his institution will be receiving will make it possible to improve its governance and management, as well as to \u201creplicate in Peru the best international development banking practices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Velarde explained that COFIDE has proposed objectives for the bank\u2019s conversion into a promotional institution for the development of the country\u2019s markets and ecosystems.\u00a0 He expects, in this connection, to see COFIDE become an example of sustainability for emulation in the country, by delivering an added value and evaluating the impact of each of its operations.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row
