Essel, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alide.org.pe\/alide\/\">ALIDE<\/a>\u2019s Head of Institutional Relations, Eduardo Vasquez, on behalf of the Secretary General of the Association, Edgardo Alvarez.[\/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=&#8221;24323,24319,24321&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1669660043203{margin-bottom: -7px !important;border-bottom-width: -7px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text 0=&#8221;&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1671658142290{margin-top: -10px !important;border-top-width: -5px !important;padding-top: -5px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #009de5;\">Revaluing of Agriculture<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>During the closing session of the global event, the ALIDE Head of Economic Studies and Information, Romy Calder\u00f3n, <strong>pointed up the importance of agriculture<\/strong> and shared basic concepts relating to its practice:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.alide.org.pe\/7th-world-congress-desarrollo-agricola-y-rural-sostenible-en-alc\/\"> sustainability, hunger and poverty, and small farmers.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is much to be revalued in the sector and we must feel proud of ourselves and extremely empowered,\u201d Calder\u00f3n insisted, on referring to the leading role played by agriculture during the pandemic of keeping up a sustained flow of food products to the market, thereby avoiding the chaos that hunger could have engendered.<\/p>\n<p>The specialist went on to add that<strong> if the intention is to fight the poverty that is concentrated particularly heavily in rural areas, then it will be important to create strategies and mechanisms that will raise the living standards of farmers<\/strong> because it is they who produce the foods, but receive little in return for their labor.<\/p>\n<p>Romy Calder\u00f3n emphasized that in order to have a greater impact on the sector, it is important for the financing to go hand-in-hand with technical assistance and knowledge in order to bolster conditions conducive to development.<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #009de5;\">The next venue<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>AFRACA\u2019s Secretary General, <a href=\"https:\/\/afraca.org\/en\/team\/mr-thomas-thompson-essel\/\">Thomas T. Essel<\/a>, announced that<strong> the 8th World Congress on Rural &amp; Agricultural Finance will be organized by his institution and held in Africa in 2025.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It should be pointed out that acceding to finance is still a major challenge for small African farmers, despite the fact<a href=\"https:\/\/africamuchocontenido.org\/pesca-ganaderia-y-agricultura\/\"> that over 60% of that continent\u2019s population is engaged in small-scale agriculture<\/a> and that almost 23% of its Gross Domestic Product is produced by that sector.<\/p>\n<p>In that connection, AFRACA consists of an important network of financial and non-financial institutions that have been promoting and coordinating access to rural and agricultural finance in the African continent since 1977.
