Essel<\/a>, analyzed the general situation of fishermen and fisherwomen in Africa and pointed that \u201cif poverty and hunger need to be reduced and gender equality promoted, the only way to do so is by focusing our efforts on the food chain.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rachel Karembo, <\/strong><u>USTDI <\/u>Projects Coordinator, for her part, <strong>explained the gender inequality existing within the fishery sector<\/strong> <strong>and shared<\/strong> initiatives\u00a0<strong>put forward to promote women\u2019s employment in this sector, such as the\u00a0 <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ustadi.org\/2022\/02\/mayungu-womens-group\/\">Mayungu High Vision Women Group<\/a>.\u00a0<strong>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This fourth session of the Congress made it possible to place <strong>the situation of the small fishermen and fisherwomen in Africa,\u00a0 particularly in Tanzania and Kenya, in context and\u00a0<\/strong>to offer a series of recommendations to financial institutions for confronting the gender and environment problems and improving the blue economy.[\/vc_column_text][vc_video link=&#8221;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=GSREmBy0i8w&#8221; align=&#8221;center&#8221;][vc_column_text 0=&#8221;&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1669650946172{margin-top: -10px !important;border-top-width: -5px !important;padding-top: -5px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #009de5;\">Inclusive green finance as a critical trigger for a sustainabile agricultural and food system<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Climate change today is reducing the productivity of the agricultural industry and altering value chains in many developing regions.\u00a0 High temperatures and extreme climates are jeopardizing agricultural activities at the global level.<\/p>\n<p>The session on green finance was held to discuss this problem, under the chairmanship of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.apraca.org\/\">APRACA<\/a>, which grouped together diverse experiences of financial institutions of Asia and the Pacific,\u00a0 as follows:\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ardb.com.kh\/\">Agricultural and Rural Development Bank<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.agribank.com.vn\/en\/ve-agribank\">Agribank<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/acpc.gov.ph\/\">DA-ACPC<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.baac.or.th\/baac_en\/#:~:text=Bank%20for%20Agriculture%20and%20Agricultural%20Cooperatives%20BAAC%20%2D%20Welcome&amp;text=%E2%80%9CTo%20be%20a%20secure%20rural,quality%20of%20life%20of%20farmers.%E2%80%9D\">Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Soeng Reth, Executive Director of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ardb.com.kh\/\">Agricultural and Rural Development Bank<\/a>, explained that the ARDB has been playing a leading role in green finance in Cambodia since 2017, for the purpose of fighting the damaging effects of climate change in the form of heavy rainfalls, high temperatures and rising sea levels.<\/p>\n<p>Given that situation, the ARDB embarked upon the establishment of a green loan policy and the creation of an exclusive department for green finance, for which it expects to obtain accreditation in the long term.<\/p>\n<p>The discussion also centered, as well, on learning the current state of green and climate finance for the agri-food sector.\u00a0 <strong>Norman Kraft,\u00a0<\/strong> DA-ACPC Director, touched upon the importance of the green finance programs of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bsp.gov.ph\/SitePages\/Default.aspx\">Central Bank of the Philippines, <\/a>\u00a0\u201cPhilippine Sustainable Finance Roadmap\u201d;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.landbank.com\/\">Land Bank of the Philippines<\/a>, \u201cGo Green Inclusive Financing Program\u201d and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dbp.ph\/\">Development Bank of the Philippines<\/a>, \u201cEnvironment and Climate Change,\u201d for confronting the effects of climate change.[\/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=&#8221;24295,24287,24289,24285,24291,24293,24269,24271,24267,24265&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1669448835709{margin-bottom: -7px !important;border-bottom-width: -7px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column_text 0=&#8221;&#8221; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1669650910021{margin-top: -10px !important;border-top-width: -5px !important;padding-top: -5px !important;}&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4><span style=\"color: #009de5;\">Guarantee Systems as driving forces for agricultural financing<\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The final session of the global congress on agriculture and finance, under\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/redegarantias.com\/\">REGAR<\/a>\u2019s chairmanship, came to an end following a discussion of the guarantee systems for agricultural financing.<\/p>\n<p>The panel session revealed the outlooks for <a href=\"https:\/\/saeca.es\/\">SAECA<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.redegarantias.com\/es\/partnership-guarantee-mutual\/agrogarante-sociedade-de-garantia-mutua-s-a\/\">Agrogarante \u2013 Sociedad de Garant\u00eda Mutua<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.finagro.com.co\/\">FINAGRO<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fira.gob.mx\/\">FIRA<\/a>, financial institutions that provide guarantees to boost agricultural development.<\/p>\n<p>SAECA President, <a href=\"https:\/\/es.linkedin.com\/in\/pablo-pombo-gonz%C3%A1lez-17ba404\">Pablo Pombo<\/a>, explained that \u201cfinance is a highly important tool in the agricultural, livestock and fishery sector because all sectors have financial needs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The President of SAECA went on the stress that his institution, as part of Spain\u2019s guarantee system, has the mission of providing guarantee coverage in order to facilitate access to financing under the best possible terms to the entire production sector, particularly agriculture, livestock and fisheries.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/angela-maria-penagos-concha-5384189\/?locale=es_ES\">\u00c1ngela Penagos<\/a>, President of FINAGRO, for her part, emphasized that agricultural guarantees in Colombia will be playing a key role in the next few years.
