use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text 0=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><em>This forum marks the first in-person meeting of the Alliance to be held since its launch on the initiative of the <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/financeincommon.org\/\"><em>\u00a0Finance in Common Summit.<\/em><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #009de5;\"><strong>August 11, 2022- <\/strong><\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alide.org.pe\/\">The Latin American Association of Financial Institutions for Development (ALIDE)<\/a>\u00a0participated in person in the 2022 Annual Forum of the Alliance of Subnational Development Banks in Latin America and the Caribbean\u00a0 entitled \u201cFinancing a just and sustainable urban transition in the role of Subnational Development Banks in LAC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>ALIDE Secretary General, Edgardo Alvarez, took part in the high-level session \u201cUrban climate transition finance: potentiating the role of the Public Development Banks.\u00a0 Multi-level cooperation and the role of the Subnational Development Banks (SDBs) in the last mile,\u201d in which he explained the strategic role played by and principal challenges confronting the Association and the development banking system in supporting city climate transition.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cStates are not equipped with sufficient resources to cover the gap in investment that is needed.\u00a0 As a result, the challenge lies in being able to attract private investors,<\/em> Alvarez asserted, in referring to the challenge involved in promoting climate finance, even for the world\u2019s most-developed economies.<\/p>\n<p>During his participation in the session \u201cResource mobilization and access to international climate finance for the SDBs,\u201d the Secretary General presented the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.readinessalide.com\/\">GCF-ALIDE Readiness Project: \u201cReinforcing climate investment and finance in the banking sector in Latin America and the Caribbean,\u201d<\/a> in which Argentina, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Paraguay and Uruguay are involved.<\/p>\n<p>Alvarez stressed that the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alide.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Estado-de-Situaci%C3%B3n-Programa-Readiness-GCF-7.08.22.pdf\"><u>Readiness Project <\/u><\/a>seeks to increase climate finance and to bring about an exchange of experiences through the efforts of the participating countries\u2019 financial institutions.\u00a0 He also underscored the fact that both development banks and private institutions are included in the project.<\/p>\n<p>ALIDE\u2019s representative concluded by pointing up the need to hasten sustainable and climate finance and also deemed it essential to have access to bankable projects that would help to reduce negative impacts on the environment.<\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][vc_images_carousel images=&#8221;23056,23058,23060,23066,23062&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][vc_column_text]<span style=\"color: #009de5;\"><strong>First in-person meeting<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>This event, carried out in S\u00e3o Paulo (Brazil) on August 10 and 11, is the first in-person meeting of the Alliance of Subnational Development Banks in Latin America and the Caribbean to be held since its <a href=\"https:\/\/financeincommon.org\/sites\/default\/files\/2021-06\/Report_SDB%20Alliance%20Launch_ESP_SP_LS.pdf\"><u>launching event on April 6, 2021<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was jointly organized by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.caf.com\/\">CAF<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.desenvolvesp.com.br\/en\/\">Desenvolve SP<\/a>\u00a0and the Alliance Secretariat, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmdv.net\/\">FMDV<\/a>,\u00a0with the support of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.euroclima.org\/\">EUROCLIMA+<\/a>(European Union \u2013 AFD),\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fonplata.org\/en\">FONPLATA<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fiesp.com.br\/\">FIESP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over the two-day event, participants shared experiences in and recommendations for the finance of a sustainable urban transition in Latin America and the Caribbean. \u00a0The steering committee of the Alliance of Subnational Banks met and a report was presented on the activities that had taken place during its first year of operation, together with the work plan for 2023, among other matters of interest.[\/vc_column_text][vc_video link=&#8221;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Zviox492af4&#8243; align=&#8221;center&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row 0=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column parallax=&#8221;content-moving&#8221; width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text 0=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #009de5;\"><strong>About the Alliance of SDBs in Latin America and the Caribbean<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This is the first Alliance of Subnational Development Banks (SDBs) to be created in Latin America and the Caribbean and was launched on April 6, 2021 following the Finance in Common Summit held in November of 2020.\u00a0 The founding members of the Alliance are Banco de Desenvolvimento de Minas Gerais (BDMG), The French Development Agency (AFD), the Global Fund for Cities Development (FMDV) and the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations (IDDRI).<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #009de5;\"><strong>About ALIDE<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>ALIDE is the community of financial institutions that generates banking solutions for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
