use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text 0=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><em>Members of the Climate Change Bureau of the Guatemalan Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources exchanged knowledge with members of Argentina\u2019s and Paraguay\u2019s Sustainable Finance Working Committees.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #009de5;\"><strong>May 24, 2022- <\/strong><\/span>In the framework of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.readinessalide.com\/\">Readiness Project \u2013 ALIDE<\/a>, representatives of the Designated National Authority (DNA) of Guatemala, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marn.gob.gt\/\">Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources, <\/a>met with members of the Sustainable Finance Working Committees of Argentina and Paraguay to find out more about their initiatives and to learn from their experiences.<\/p>\n<p>During the first meeting, Candelaria Alvarez, representative of the Secretariat of International Economic and Financial Relations of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.argentina.gob.ar\/economia\">Argentina<\/a><u>\u2019s Ministry of Economy<\/u> shared information about how her country\u2019s Technical Working Committee on Sustainable Finance emerged in 2020 as a project born in the public sector in response to the need to link up climate, social and governance issues with the financial sector.<\/p>\n<p>She went on to explain that\u00a0the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.argentina.gob.ar\/economia\/asuntosinternacionales\/mesafs#:~:text=%C2%BFQu%C3%A9%20es%20la%20Mesa%20T%C3%A9cnica,las%20finanzas%20sostenibles%20en%20Argentina.\">Argentinean Technical Working Committee on Sustainable Finance <\/a>\u00a0brings together financial sector regulators and seeks to formulate a National Sustainable Finance Strategy.\u00a0 In order to do so, the constituent institutions worked on standardizing criteria and creating a roadmap as a guide for the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach economy has its own dynamic and, as a result, each economy has to design its own instruments to serve its market,\u201d Alvarez pointed out, noting that it is important to seek and work on the design of sustainable finance tools that are innovative and adjustable to the market in which they will be applied.<\/p>\n<p>During the second meeting, representatives of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marn.gob.gt\/\">Guatemala\u2019s Ministry of the Environment <\/a>\u00a0and the country\u2019s national consultant, \u00a0Antonethe Casta\u00f1eda, talked with members of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfs.org.py\/es\/\">Working Committee on Sustainable Finance of Paraguay, <\/a>among them its General Manager, Mirta Mart\u00ednez, and its President, Omar Fern\u00e1ndez.<\/p>\n<p>Mart\u00ednez shared information about the actions taken by her institution and the challenges it has been faced with since 2012.\u00a0 \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfs.org.py\/es\/\">Paraguay\u2019s Sustainable Finance Working Committee <\/a>\u00a0emerged as a private sector initiative to become a prototype sustainable development institution and implement innovative strategies in financial sector management.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe working committee has taken huge steps over the past five years and has experienced exponential growth.\u00a0 We now encompass almost 100% of the institutions operating in Paraguay\u2019s financial system,\u201d stated Fern\u00e1ndez. He went on to add that 70% of the financial institutions have joined <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mfs.org.py\/es\/\">\u00a0Paraguay\u2019s Sustainable Finance Working Committee.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The institution ultimately took the form of a self-sustaining initiative that contributed the first environmental and social guides to good practices in the financing of Paraguay\u2019s three most important economic sectors: agriculture, stock breeding and agribusiness.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row 0=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column parallax=&#8221;content-moving&#8221; width=&#8221;1\/6&#8243;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text 0=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #009de5;\"><strong>About ALIDE<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>ALIDE is the community of financial institutions that generates banking solutions for the development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
