11=&#8221;Internacionales&#8220;&#8221; text=&#8221;ALIDE participated in the meeting of the Water Finance Coalition&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:center|color:%23013c7b&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text 0=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the meeting, the Latin American Regional Report on the Role of Public Development Banks (PDBs) in the Water Sector was presented. <\/span><\/i><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><b>February 17, 2022- <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alide.org.pe\/en\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span> <\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alide.org.pe\/en\/\">Latin American Association of Development Financing Institutions (ALIDE) <\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">participated in the fourth meeting of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterfinancecoalition.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Water Finance Coalition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, led by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gob.mx\/banobras\/en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">National Bank of Public Works and Services (<\/span>Banobras<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Mexico and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.afd.fr\/en\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Agence Fran\u00e7aise de D\u00e9veloppement (AFD)<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During his welcoming remarks, Edgardo Alvarez, general secretary of ALIDE, emphasized the importance of water in life and how pollution and the climate change have altered his cycle and generated resource scarcity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe region&#8217;s water stress has fueled a number of conflicts as various sectors, including agriculture, hydropower, mining and even drinking water and sanitation, compete for scarce resources, said Alvarez.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facing this problem and the need to meet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/es\/water-and-sanitation\/\">Sustainable Development Goal 6<\/a>, the general secretary of ALIDE said that development banks have an important role to play as financiers and operators of the service programs\u00a0 in water, sanitation and water resources management.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After the welcome, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/alice-colson-5b96b8a7\/?originalSubdomain=fr\">Alice Colson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/olivier-crespi-reghizzi-06a14310\/?originalSubdomain=fr\">Olivier Crespi<\/a> (AFD) commented on the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.waterfinancecoalition.org\/_files\/ugd\/396d29_54044e55be1949589450c4ec9e75f109.pdf\"><b>Joint Statement on Financing Water and Sanitation<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> made by the public development banks during the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/financeincommon.org\/\"><b>Finance in Common <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2021 summit, presented the initiatives being worked on, and shared the coalition&#8217;s agenda, which includes the 9th World Water Forum in Dakar, Senegal.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the roundtable, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ircwash.org\/profile-main\/223\">Stef Smits (IRC)<\/a> presented <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afd.fr\/en\/rt65_water_case_studies_latin_america_crespi_reghizzi\">the Latin American Regional Report on the role of Public Development Banks (PDBs)<\/a> in the Water Sector.\u00a0 This report was developed based on the national cases of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnb.gov.br\/\">BNB<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bndes.gov.br\/wps\/portal\/site\/home\">BNDES<\/a> in Brazil, <a href=\"https:\/\/bde.fin.ec\/en\/\">BDE<\/a> in Ecuador, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bandesal.gob.sv\/\">Bandesal<\/a> in El Salvador and Banobras in Mexico, and the international cases of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fonplata.org\/en\">FONPLATA<\/a>,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bcie.org\/en\/\"> CABEI<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nadb.org\/es\">NADBank<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.caf.com\/en\/\">CAF<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iadb.org\/en\/fin\">IDB.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also, the discussion was attended by<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/laura-bedeschi-rego-de-mattos-5a87a1152\/?originalSubdomain=br\"> Laura Bedeschi<\/a>, representative of BNDES;
