Fortaleza de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, known for short as Fortaleza, is located under the equatorial line and is the furthest of the most visited and animated cities in the Brazilian northeast. Cearenses are well known for their hospitality and good humor, and therefore their city is one of the most visited by Brazilians from all over the country and by foreigners that choose Fortaleza and its beaches as their favorite holiday spot.

Also know as the capital city of forró, a folkloric rhythm created by the fishermen with the predominance of accordion, Fortaleza is an important attraction for tourists and receives about half a million tourists every year, attracted by the 25 kilometers of stunning sea shore and 25 dune-covered beautiful beaches.

Because of its position in the equatorial line, the climate is clearly tropical with temperatures between 25°C and 28°C, with hardly any rainfall. Fortaleza, also know as Daughter of the Sun, has a warm and calm sea with bluish green waters with palm trees along the beach. Wearing light clothes is recommended because of the climate.

Formal wear is required for the plenary, opening and closing sessions.
