MAIN TOPIC:
DEVELOPMENT BANKING AND THE FINANCING OF REGIONAL TRADE AND INVESTMENT: NEW INSTRUMENTS

According to the need of the region to advance its economic process towards a sustainable growth and improve its participation and position in world markets, Latin America and the Caribbean require to deepen their economic integration process where the impulse to intraregional trade and investment are fundamental variables that can be facilitated by the development banks in our countries through an increased financial and inter institutional cooperation to boost investment, business and operations.

 

Topic 1
Long-term financing needs for investment in the region. The vision of Latin American entrepreneurs
.


Success and self-improving cases within a competitive environment of international leading exporting (Small and Medium size enterprises - SMEs who have managed to grow and develop bases in other countries in the region. These entrepreneurs will discuss their needs for long-term financing   for the development and investment projects in the region and to be considered in a better matching position in the offer of instruments by the development banking.

 
Topic 2
Financial instruments to facilitate intraregional business and investments

This topic will explore the improvement of instruments to facilitate joint operations and proposals for regional initiatives that can be promoted and operated by development banks to encourage trade, business and investment among the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean. Establishing mutual correspondence, granting bilateral credit lines, co-financing of infrastructure in bi-national projects, regional business technology platforms for SMEs, international guarantee schemes, payment instruments, etc. are examples of initiatives that can boost business cooperation among development banks.

 
Tema 3
Driving business and investment: the role of multilateral and extra regional banking and the business cooperation with Latin American development banking

In this session we will share successful experiences in the global financial institutions environment that have effectively contributed to the process of economic integration of their regions, What are their policies and strategies to promote economic cooperation and regional integration? What initiatives, sectors and key issues should be considered? What lessons can we learn from their regional integration efforts? Also, financial lines and programs from banks outside the regions within the financial cooperation framework and businesses with the Latin American banks to finance projects and investments in the region.

¿WHY IS LATIN AMERICA ATTRACTING FOREIGN INVESTMENT?

The uncertainty in global markets and the good performance of the region have increased the attractiveness for investment in Latin America and the Caribbean. How to encourage this process? What role corresponds to the development banks regarding international banking and entrepreneurs? Why bet on the region?
