In the process of extending credit to Micro and SMES, the high risk and the lack of adequate guaranteed will continue to be the two main factors limiting the access to financing for micro, small and medium enterprises, be them rural or urban. In this regard, iti is necessary to consolidate adequate credit technologies for this entrepreneurial sector which favor cost reduction, allow a quick and massive attention and minimize risks, as well as moving forward the implementation of administration instruments and methodologies and risk management for this type of customer.

How is development banking focusing risk minimization in their operations with rural and urban SMEs? What products, schemes and instruments have been put in place with good results? Are the alliances with non banking financial intermediaries a good alternative for risk minimization? Are micro financing technologies helping towards this goal?

These are some of the question to be addresses at the Technical Committee meeting in order to analyze and share points of view and experiences regarding the problem of risk minimization management in financing rural and urban Micro and SMES by banks and development financial institutions, aimed at extending credit to this important segment with a safe operational and financial performance.
